The Fright Nights Norfolk team will be conducting our first ever ghost Hunt at the Tolhouse Gaol/Museum on 21st November. This 11th century building was originally owned by a merchant family who used the building for the storage of their goods but by the 13th century it was used for the payment of tolls and taxes.
In later years, the Tolhouse became a Court with the underground storerooms being used as a dungeon (known as 'The Hold') with many prisoners being locked away over the years including: thieves, smugglers, witches, pirates and murderers. Even Women and Children were included in this as well. The punishment ranged from being placed in stocks, whipped, branded with hot irons and execution by hanging.
Previous activity includes visitors being pushed by unseen entities, chilling screams being heard and visions of ghostly apparitions.
Who will be brave enough to spend the night with us in the Tolhouse Gaol and do a lone vigil in the dark?
