Built in 1863, the stunning Grade II Victorian Grand Hotel overlooks the town’s harbour and South Bay, standing out amongst all others. In 2017 it was named one of the top 10 places to stay. With a long and varied history it is no wonder the hotel is haunted.
Will you join East and South Yorkshire on this their first visit to investigate at this hotel?
With its history of bombings during the first World War, where in 1914, at the start of World War I, as the fighting reached the British shores, The Grand Hotel was one of the many costal buildings to be damaged. On December 16th 1914, it was estimated that around 30 German artillery shells hit the hotel by the German Navy, with its battlecruisers, primarily destroying the restaurant. Although badly damaged, the Grand Hotel went on to recover and become a base in the Second World War.
